On holiday in northern Spain

The Costa Brava is the northernmost coastal region of the Spanish costas along the Mediterranean Sea. The coast is about 200 kilometers long and is best known for the extensive rock formations, foothills of the Pyrenees, which sometimes extend into the sea. The Costa Brava has secluded coves, picturesque villages dating back to the Middle Ages and historic sites. When you think of the Costa Brava, you probably think of the famous places such as Girona, Lloret de Mar and Figueres, but this beautiful region has more to offer than that. You will also find many charming Spanish villages with many sights to see. Most of the Costa Brava has a long eventful history and is worth exploring.

Girona - The historic city of Girona is the capital of the Costa Brava. However, the city is worth much more than just a day trip when you are on holiday in this region, especially if you are interested in Catalan culture. Take a walk through the historic center of the city or through the old streets on the steep hill, and admire the houses overlooking the Onyar River. A walk in this city is a great way to get to know the city's charms.

Begur - A 20-minute drive from B&B La Vista Brava is Begur, a small village that was an important fortification in the Middle Ages, which is home to several historical monuments from that period, such as the ruins of Begur. Once in Begur, it is wonderful to stroll around the picturesque historic center. You will find some cozy bars, restaurants and hotels here. The heart of the village is the Plaça de la Villa square. The weekly market is held on this square. The market takes place on Wednesdays from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Begur has several picturesque bays and beaches, 8 to be precise. Aguablava and Sa Tuna are the most striking here. where you can take beautiful picturesque pictures. Make sure you get here on time, because full = full!

Pals - The medieval town of Pals is built on a hill and is also one of the best preserved villages on the Costa Brava. When you walk through the old town, it seems like you are going back in time. Every house looks exactly the same as it did in the Middle Ages. In Pals you will encounter sights in Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque styles. The top attraction in Pals, however, is the Castell de Pals just outside the city center. The castle consists of a number of luxurious homes from the Middle Ages, a courtyard and the 15-meter-high Torre de les Hores in Romanesque style. Pals is a half-hour drive from B&B La Vista Brava.

Cami de Ronda - Of course everyone knows the Costa Brava for its beautiful, rugged coast with golden beaches and picturesque fishing villages. As a walker you can experience and visit the beauty of the Costa Brava up close by following the historic Camí de Ronda walking route, which stretches from Portbou near the French border to Blanes. In the past, this path close to the coast was used by the Guàrdia Civil to patrol and keep an eye out for smugglers and other evil that could enter the country via the sea. By building a path directly along the coast, it became easier for captains to look directly out to sea while patrolling, but also to check the many small 'calas'  for fishing boats that might want to land contraband. When constructing the route, no effort was spared to stay as close to the coast as possible so as not to lose sight of the sea. This created a hiking trail that is today considered one of the most beautiful in Catalonia (and perhaps all of Spain). This is due to the many contrasts that the route has to offer: the deep blue sea, the yellow-red rocks and the green of the pine trees to the quiet, secluded bays and lively fishing villages that you encounter along the way. This walking route runs along the coastline of Platja d'Aro.

Calella de Palafrugell/LLfranc - The Costa Brava in northeastern Spain has many famous seaside resorts such as Blanes and Lloret de Mar, but it is the small villages between the big cities that you should certainly not miss. Exchange the hustle and bustle of the resorts for the picturesque fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell. This is also a seaside resort with beautiful sandy beaches located on an azure blue sea, but without the extreme hustle and bustle of elsewhere. Calella de Palafrugell does not have a large tourist flow, so you can enjoy the beautiful white buildings with terracotta roofs, the beautiful bays off the coast and the beautiful botanical gardens of Cap Roig in relative peace.

If you want to rest after visiting all these beautiful places on the Costa Brava, B&B La Vista Brava is the most suitable place to do so. Order a drink and tapas by the private pool and relax completely
